Migration policy in South Africa: How should we be thinking about it?
In an article published on the Polity portal, GAPP research associate and Migration Reform programme director, Mr Alan Hirsch, points to the need to build the conditions for an honest and evidence-formed debate on South Africa’s migration policy. In his assessment, it is necessary to promote a space for constructive discussion on the subject, allowing the country’s migration policies to be modernised taking into account the difficulties of context, such as the high levels of domestic poverty and unemployment and the resurgence of populist policies around the world.
