Dr. Rommy Morales-Olivares lines of research and teaching are research methodologies for social sciences, comparative analysis, the socioeconomic and socio-political transformations in the global south, post authoritarian transitions, contemporary social theory and gender analysis for social sciences.  Morales-Olivares has a PhD in Socioeconomics and Statistical Studies, Doctor in Sociology (excellent cum laude) from the University of Barcelona-University of Southampton (2018), Master in Applied Social Research (2012), from the University Autonoma of Barcelona, Postgraduate in Democracy & Diversity Studies, (2013) by the New School of Social Research NY, Master’s Degree in Applied Economics (2009), Georgetown University – Alberto Hurtado University, Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology (2006), from the University Alberto Hurtado, Chile (Magna cum laude), and Bachelor of Political Sciences. Alberto Hurtado University of Chile. Currently Lecturer and Margarita Salas- European Union Researcher at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Economics. University of Barcelona; Associate Researcher at Department of Sociology, University of the Witwatersrand and Associate researcher in the Observatory of Socioeconomic Transformations (OTS)-ANID, Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. Chile- Germany. I was consultant at Gender Affairs Division. ECLAC Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (2018-2020), and previously Phd Researcher at TRAMOD. Trajectories of Modernity Project (2012-2018), funded by the European Research Council Advanced Grant.
